TEC came into operation in April 2000 when the previous Civil Engineering Industry Training Board was dissolved to make way for the skills development act.

Facing retrenchment from CEITB, Debbie Clarke (MD of TEC) realised that her many years of experience in the construction training industry of South Africa, would go to waste if she did not constructively use her experience for the benefit of the Civil Engineering and Construction industry of South Africa.

From humble beginnings, Debbie Clarke started training from her dining room in her house and with sweat, blood and often tears, Debbie soon surrounded herself with a dedicated team and together they built TEC into a first class training establishment for the Construction industry of South Africa. TEC is fully CETA accredited.

Today TEC is situated in Benoni North on a 5 acre plot of land providing ample space for complex hands-on-practical construction training as well as excellent classrooms, lecture rooms and accommodation.
